Mission & Values
Cultivating Rooted Values in the Pursuit of Excellence
We hold firm to the belief that work ethic and grit are immeasurable elements of success in life, while also recognizing the importance of family, faith, and morality in the maturation journey of young adults. We aim to mentor and develop young women who confront challenges with resilience, embodying the principles of courage, commitment, and conviction.
We understand what it takes to succeed at the highest level; we have traveled the road. It takes more than sharpened skill. It takes character, community, poise, perseverance and a steadfast belief in something bigger than the game. We aim to underwrite these honorable pillars of success that are often overlooked in most youth training programs. They are of paramount importance to the Long View and are the true merits of youth sports. Our unwavering mission is to cultivate strong roots and mold not only skilled athletes, but principled leaders who have a positive impact on their communities and families.
About Coach Z
A 2001 graduate of Columbus Bishop Ready High School, Coach Meghan (Rowlands) Zuercher grew up in Hilliard, OH. Zuercher was the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year in 2001 and was a 2x All-Ohio selection.
Coach Z played for The Ohio State Buckeyes from 2002-2005. In her four seasons, she was the recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, the Coaches’ Award and was named NFCA Academic All-American and Academic All-Big Ten. Meghan also served on the Ohio State Student-Athlete Advisory Board and was named Team Captain for the Buckeyes in her senior season (2005). Upon graduating, Coach Z received the prestigious Grimes-Davidge Graduate School Scholarship, awarded to just one Ohio State female student-athlete for her leadership within the community.
Zuercher began her coaching career in 2007 at Columbus Bishop Hartley High School. Coach Z led the Hawks for nine seasons (2008-2016) and grew the program to tremendous size and talent in those nine seasons, largely through the establishment of her youth feeder program: The Eastside Hawks Softball Club, comprised of Diocesan students on the east-side of Columbus. During her nine seasons as head coach of Bishop Hartley, Zuercher coached twelve NCAA Div. 1 and Div. 2 scholarship softball players who went on to play in The Big Ten, the ACC, the MAC, and the Patriot League. Almost a dozen more of her student-athletes went on to play Div 3 college softball as well. She led the program to its first CCL title in 23 years when the Hawks finished undefeated in 2016. While at Bishop Hartley HS, Zuercher was also an Honors American Literature teacher and the School Administrative Manager. Zuercher left Bishop Hartley HS in 2016 to spend more time with her husband Brian and (then) three children.
Coach Z returned to Diocesan work from 2018-2022 as the Director of Admissions Outreach at her alma mater, Bishop Ready HS.
Zuercher returned to coaching in the Fall of 2021 as the Director of Teams at the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Dome in Hilliard, OH, quickly growing the program from two teams to ten teams. She coached the 8U teams for three seasons (2021, 2022, 2023).
Currently, Zuercher serves on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Lasers Softball Program. She is the head coach for Ohio Lasers 10U Zuercher. She also established and directs a local Diocesan-based youth program: The Central Ohio Saints. Coach Z works part-time as an Intervention Specialist at Bishop Watterson HS, where her children will attend high school. Meghan and Brian now have six children aged 12 and under and reside in Hilliard, Ohio.
